National Nutrition Week- India


September 1st, 2017, today we start the one week observation of "The National Nutrition Week". This year's theme is declared as, "Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health".

Every year a different theme is chosen, related to the issues of national nutrition, its importance on population health and growth.

This year, 2017, the basic objective is to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National development.

The Food and Nutrition Board of Ministry of Women & Child Development, through its 43 Community Food and Nutrition Extension Units (CFNEUs) located in 30 States/UTs, will coordinate with concerned Department of the State/UT Governments, National Institutions, NGOs and organize State/UT Level Workshops, Orientation Training of Fields Functionaries, Awareness Generation Camps, Community meetings during the week on the specified theme./1.

Activities are meat to enter the mass, especially at lower levels where in the awareness of health and nutrition related knowledge is lacking. In India the activities include many functional socieities like Mahila Samaj (Women's Associations), Aanganwadi (child care and basic classes), and various voluntary organisations helping poor children and women.

National Nutrition Week is used to celebrate for the People who are not aware of the Nutrition facts and they are able to get all the possible knowledge about the all the Functions of the Nutrition. Nutrition makes every people do any of the tasks for many hours without any problem to their health. So the government has made many of the Themes to give the people all the Nutrition ideas and their requirement to their Body. Some major area of reference is drawn as:

 Nutritional data and comparisons

 Poor nutrition causes and effects

 Method for nutritional up bringing

 Linking human resource development and national growth

India recognizes the importance of healthy population. “The nutritional status of a population is therefore critical to the development-and well being of, a nation.”

Indian National Nutrition policy from Ministry of Woman and Child Development, Govt of India at NIC website/ 5.0, gives the policy development methods and contains lots of data.

The National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau collects lots of data and carries out many tasks in managing nutritional issues in India

Different nations have different months for the Nutrition Week ( or month ) observations.
